First of Its Kind Rare Breed Recipe Contest

In conjunction with this year’s ALBC conference theme, Critical Cuisine: Putting Rare Breeds Back on the Table©, ALBC is happy to announce a first of its kind rare breed recipe contest.

From now until September 1st, ALBC encourages all members to submit rare breed recipes to show off the breeds they know best in order to create a unique recipe book that allows consumers sound and practical advice on how to best enjoy rare breed products.

This one-of-a-kind book will illustrate appropriate techniques that showcase the wonderful flavors of rare breed products while providing information about the breeds themselves and the people who work with them.  ALBC will further promote some of the recipes on its website, blog, breed profiles, and in the ALBC News. This is a great way to share your passion for these rare breeds and help others enjoy the wide range of flavor they present to the consumer.

ALBC will select first, second, and third place recipe contest winners who will be announced at the annual conference. Recipes will be judged based on taste, originality/artistic flair, ease of preparation/practicality, and appearance. The first place winner will receive a free registration to the 2009 ALBC national conference in Houston, Texas.

Contest submissions should include the recipe in detail, photos of the animals and/or the dish if possible, and a little background on how the recipe was developed. Submissions may be e-mailed to editor@albc-usa.org or they can be mailed to ALBC, PO Box 477, Pittsboro, NC 27312.

All entries will become ALBC property and ALBC reserves the right to reproduce, print, publish, display, modify, or otherwise use these submissions to support its mission and conservation efforts.
